There’s a lot to know about fireplaces.
Licenses & Permits
The majority of repairs do not need a permit. I know which repairs need a permit and which don’t.
I pull 30-50 permits a year – 400 in the last 10 years. It’s best to have a licensed contractor, like me, with proper general liability insurance pull permits when needed.
I’ll be sure to let you know when a permit is not needed. I will always do this for you and I have never failed an inspection. If you decide to pull your own permit, know what your responsibilities are.

Worker's Comp Laws | General Liability Insurance
Since 2002, it is the law that if a contractor has proper insurance (general liability insurance), they must provide a copy to all clients for construction work and bids.
All contractors must carry workers comp by law if they have employees. Never allow contractors without proper insurance to perform work on your property.
I provide a certificate of liability and workers compensation for all work performed, covering up to a million dollars.

I did my homework about chimney repairs and kept on coming back to Bob Dias. . . . Let me tell you there are not too many masonry contractors out there. I have a chimney that needs to be torn down and rebuilt. I got three different bids all at different prices but knew Bob was the most knowledgable. He learned the masonary trade from his father and has had over 40 years of experience. He is passionate about his work and makes sure the consumer knows what work needs to be done and the process of making your chimney safe. He has C-20-C-36-C-29 licenses. He is able to pull a permit with the city when many other chimney repair companies cannot do that because they’re not licensed. Along with the chimney repair, he connected and installed my gas log sets! There was a gas line already installed in my firebox before I moved to this house but I know Bob can install gas lines as well. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve called Bob with questions and he is so patient with all of my questions and concerns. If anyone needs masonry repair on their chimney Bob is your man!
